North Star Specialized Cement Company (a subsidiary of Northern Cement Group) participated in the Third Cement Technology Conference, held from July 25 to 27 in Damascus. The conference discussed modern technologies in the cement industry and reducing their environmental impact, with the aim of contributing to the development of the cement industry and finding solutions to the problems and challenges it faces.
The conference, organized in cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and the SIM Group, was attended by Syrian public and private cement companies and representatives from several countries, most notably China, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, and Switzerland. The conference also featured participation from Sinoma Overseas, a company specializing in building factories around the world.
Engineer Mohammed Al-Shoubaki, Technical Director of Northern Cement Group, participated in the conference discussion sessions, presenting ideas and proposals for developing the cement industry using the latest global technologies. The conference also discussed Jordan's experience in using alternative energy, including oil shale for electricity generation.
During the conference, Al-Shobaki stressed the need to communicate with all investors, address their requests, expedite solutions to energy resource problems, and establish a single window for investors in each industrial city. The company's future projects were also discussed.
During the conference, Engineer Haitham Hijazin, Project Manager of the North Star Company in Syria, emphasized the importance of using cement rubble in reconstruction by processing these materials and using them in road construction. He explained that the cost of using them in the cement industry is unprofitable.
In the field of industrial raw materials and modern exploration methods, geologist Osama Al-Lahham, representative of the North Star Company, emphasized the importance of integrating remote sensing and geological studies in managing and developing quarry investment. Through satellite image analysis, important information was obtained in the fields of exploration, which was used in preparing preliminary studies for the Abu Al-Shamat project to identify the locations of limestone, basalt, and pozzolana.
At the end of the conference, participants called for the need to develop solutions to enhance the competitiveness of the national product in terms of diversity and price, prioritize occupational safety and industrial security, rehabilitate old factories, and update Syrian standard specifications to comply with international standards.
